Our bathroom is original 70s or 80s. Can it be re-waterproofed?
Not without stripping it. Bathrooms of that era in The Gap were built before current waterproofing requirements, so there is usually nothing behind the tile to improve on. The rebuild is: strip out, form new falls, lay a compliant membrane, then tile. It is the most common job we do in this suburb.
We are on a cut-and-fill block. Does that affect a pool surround?
It can. Cut-and-fill blocks around The Gap settle unevenly, and a pool surround sitting across the cut and the fill will move differently on each side. That means expansion joints in the right places and a bedding detail that tolerates movement — otherwise the coping lifts.
Can you handle split-level thresholds and landings?
Yes, they are common on the sloping blocks here. The threshold is where a split-level floor either looks deliberate or looks like a mistake, so the levels get set across both floors before anything is fixed, and the change of plane is detailed rather than fudged.
